Hærvejen - hiking on the historic pilgrimage route

Hærvejen "Army road" is part of the historic pilgrimage route from Trondheim Cathedral in Norway to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. In North Jutland, the Hærvejen runs from Frederikshavn via Aalborg to Viborg and from Hirtshals to Viborg, where it continues south.

Hærvejen has now been recreated as walking routes with signage and information along the way. Therefore, the Hærvejen can provide many fantastic hikes in Denmark - also in North Jutland. The route is well visited by both pilgrims and other hikers. You can easily choose to walk a small part of Hærvejen as a day trip - or a larger part if you want to go on a walking holiday. Regardless of the length, the hike on Hærvejen will take you through beautiful landscapes.
