The engine room in Skagen is a private collection of engines, maritime and agricultural effects, vintage vehicles, equipment and tools.

The collection was founded in 2020, and opened its doors to the public in mid-2021.
The engine room warmly welcomes all ages and all genders - free coffee/tea and WiFi are offered with the purchase of admission.


The machine room has a hot dog cart available during opening hours - here you can buy cold and hot refreshments - try the machine room's well-known "Beef sandwich WITH gravy" or
The engine room's "Skipper Burger" with the juicy steaks


Experience motoring and maritime history up close - follow the technological development from 1879 to the 1990s

The collection consists of over 500 engines, 130 motorcycles, 80 mopeds, vintage cars and over
1000 maritime and agricultural effects - The engine room is divided between 2 buildings on
about 2000 square meters in total.


In the Engine Room you can see ship and stationary engines which have been used for various purposes
purpose - experience the technology and mechanics up close, from hot air, steam, gas, petrol and diesel engines, when the staff starts up and explains about the engines.
There will be signage with information on the various engines, with their data, history,
application and operation - which can be translated on the Machine Room website.


The engine room walls are decorated with name boards, tools and equipment, covers from ships,
enamel signs, hats, boots, ship drawings and other items worthy of preservation
- there is, among other things, a room with a beer collection, which is among a huge collection
300 bottles and 50 model ships - here you can experience model ships of the TITANIC and
MARTHA


Experience a huge hall with the motorcycles from Hedebo Camping, as well as mopeds and
vintage cars from various collectors - you can, among other things, experience the world's first car from 1886
by Carl Benz and Ford's Quadricycle from 1896 in the Maskinrummet collection.

 

Events

Various events are held at the Machine Room - Easter meetings have been held,
stump market, open house (free entrance) at Kristi Himmelfart and October, American meeting,
moped party and some concerts.
The events/events will come continuously - so follow the Maskinrummet on this app,
their Facebook group or check out their website to be updated on this.

 

Donations and Collections

The engine room is a mixture of the purchase of engines and effects, as well as donations in kind
of material and things for the collection from the visitors. This includes;
Literature, drawings/paintings, lanterns, nameplates, bottle and model ships, tools and
equipment/instruments.
The machine room buys engines and effects at home and abroad from private individuals and from others
collections.
Among other things, you will experience a huge collection of unique and well-maintained engines and vintage cars.
from the German collector Gunter Werner, and you will experience the Hedebo Classic MC consisting of
118 motorcycles and 2 vintage cars from Hedebo Camping.
Experience engines from the Jegindø power plant, Give- and Randers Teglværk, Flakfort, printing houses,
textile and cake factories. Experience bottle and model ships from Ærø and Marstal.
- Take a break from the exhibition in the lovely Chesterfield sofas in Skipper Jensen's Memorial Room,
which is a cozy chamber with relatively cool furnishings; radio, large paintings, model ships,
furniture designed with rudder and pitch blades
