Skagen Church, as we know it today, was built in 1910 as a major expansion of the previous somewhat more modest church from 1841, built by the famous architect CF Hansen (known for, among other things, Copenhagen Cathedral).

The church expansion was overseen by the architectural duo Ulrik Plesner and Thorvald Bindesbøll, who successfully managed to combine CF Hansen's neoclassical core with a more period-typical exterior look and lush floral arabesques in the interior decoration.

Several artistic expressions characterize the interior of the church:

Joakim Skovgaard painted the large altarpiece with the Christmas crib in Bethlehem, and in our time Arne L. Hansen has contributed with the altarpiece's three square and colorful fields depicting the events of Easter.

The large crucifix on the north wall of the church and the brass Golgotha scene on the altar table were made by Niels Helledie.

The church organ was delivered by Marcussen & Søn in 1962 and was expanded with four new stops in 2010. In 2018, the organ received an oboe in the reedwork, thus having 31 stops.

The church is open from 8 am to 18 pm every day.

Skagen Church's parish house is located directly opposite the church in the old mission house, 'Emaus'.

Skagen Cemetery (Assistents Cemetery) is located at Chr. X's vej 30. The chapel was built in 1925 and designed by Ulrik Plesner. There is also a cemetery on Markvej in Skagen and in Gl. Skagen, Højen Cemetery.
